Intuitive Eating (IE) is a dynamic mind-body integration of instinct, emotion, and rational thought when it comes to feeding yourself. This research supported process is about strengthening the ability to hear and respond to biological cues of hunger and fullness, along with other principles that help improve self-regulation. IE has been shown to increase sense of well-being, improved blood sugar and cholesterol biomarkers, improved ability to perceive bodily sensations, and psychological hardiness (Tribole, Resch, 2012).
Health At Every Size (HAES) is about respecting your body's genetic blueprint. The focus moves away from weight and size and shifts toward health promoting behaviors. Efforts toward weight control are the #1 predictor of weight gain over a 2 year period due to activation of "thrifty genes" and metabolic adaptations. We want want you to be healthy for the long-haul and end the exhausting ups and downs of weight cycling. You have never once failed going low carb or counting macros; since these efforts are biologically unsustainable, they have failed you. HAES is about practicing respectful behaviors and language toward your body, which are more clear indicators of long-term health.
